Job Summary

BMC2 is a collaborative consortium dedicated to improving the quality of care and outcomes in patients who undergo cardiovascular procedures across the State of Michigan. BMC2 is developing a new heart failure registry, which will take a population health-based approach to measuring outcomes and improving quality of care for patients with heart failure. The new registry will bring together diverse stakeholders including patients, specialists, primary care physicians, and pharmacists. 

Support for BMC2 is provided by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network as part of the BCBSM Value Partnerships Program. 

Under general direction, the BI Analyst Senior conceptualizes, designs, and delivers high-impact business intelligence solutions that support cross-functional strategic objectives and drive organizational value. This role focuses on developing interactive, user-centered dashboards and reporting solutions, supported by strong SQL-based data analysis and modeling. BMC2 is transitioning PDF reporting to an interactive platform and this role is integral to providing our consortium with autonomy over their data. 

The BI Analyst Senior leads the design and development of data structures, data extracts, and analytical outputs required for complex analyses and decision support. This position operates at a senior technical and analytical level, independently evaluating business problems, identifying data-driven insights, and recommending actionable solutions.

Responsibilities*

  • Conceptualize and develop business intelligence solutions aligned with cross-functional strategic objectives
  • Design, build, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using tools such as Tableau and/or Power BI
  • Apply strong UX/UI principles to ensure dashboards are intuitive, accessible, and effective for diverse audiences
  • Develop and manage SQL queries, views, and extracts to support reporting, analytics, and data visualization
  • Design and administer data structures and datasets to enable reliable, repeatable, and scalable analysis
  • Translate complex data into clear insights, narratives, and visualizations for technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Participate in strategic assessments to identify current and emerging business issues and opportunities
  • Lead and facilitate business process improvement discussions and recommend data-driven solutions
  • Develop and present reports, dashboards, metrics definitions, and analytical findings to stakeholders and leadership
  • Collaborate with data engineers, application developers, and business partners to ensure data accuracy and consistency
  • Lead or manage cross-functional BI initiatives or projects, including planning, task coordination, and status reporting
  • Support change management efforts related to new or enhanced BI tools, dashboards, and processes
  • Ensure data governance, quality, and documentation standards are followed

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelors degree (BA or BS) in a quantitative field such as Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, or Information Systems
  • Five (5) or more years of professional experience in business intelligence, analytics, or data visualization roles
  • Strong experience developing interactive dashboards using Tableau, Power BI, or similar BI tools
  • Proficiency in SQL for querying, transforming, and validating data from relational databases
  • Strong understanding of data visualization best practices and dashboard design principles
  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements and refine reporting needs
  • Ability to independently analyze complex problems and recommend data-driven solutions
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present insights clearly and effectively
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and delivering high-quality work with minimal supervision

Desired Qualifications*

  • Advanced experience applying UX/UI principles specifically to data visualization and dashboard design
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and analytical modeling
  • Experience supporting self-service BI initiatives
  • Familiarity with version control (e.g., Git) for managing BI assets or SQL code
  • Experience working with large, complex, or sensitive datasets
  • Experience in change management, training, or user adoption efforts for BI tools
  • Exposure to cloud-based BI platforms or data ecosystems

Background Screening
