Job Summary

The Digital Press Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining digital printing presses to produce high-quality printed materials. Key duties include preparing digital files, monitoring the press during operation, making color and machine adjustments, performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting, conducting quality control, and managing supplies. The role requires attention to detail to ensure jobs are completed accurately and on schedule while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities*

Primary Responsibilities

  • Set up and operation of digital presses: Load paper and supplies, program the digital press and inline finishing according to job specifications, and monitor the machine throughout the printing process.
  • Setup color profiles and maintain a media catalog.
  • Quality control: Compare printed products to proofs, inspect samples for accuracy, and adjust the press to maintain consistent color and print quality.
  • Maintenance and troubleshooting: Perform routine maintenance, such as cleaning equipment, removing paper jams, and troubleshooting and clearing basic errors to minimize downtime.
  • File and color management: Manipulate digital print files to ensure correct registration and calibrate press color settings to meet client requirements.
  • Production and workflow: Interpret work orders, manage production schedules, and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Communication: Coordinate with a team, including customer service, prepress and bindery staff to meet customer demands.
  • Inventory and cleanup: Monitor and manage supply levels, order new supplies as needed, and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Documentation: Track time and completion of tasks using software tracking tools.
  • Safety: Follow all safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Physical Requirements: Requires prolonged periods of standing, manual dexterity and moving of boxes and raw materials up to 70lbs.


Secondary Responsibilities

  • Bindery machine operation: Set up, operate, and monitor machines for trimming, bindery and finishing of printed materials.
  • Packaging: Package finished materials for delivery to customers or vendors.
  • Shipping: Prepare completed orders for shipment using shipping software

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM

Union Affiliation
