Job Summary
The social media intern will join the Department of Communication?s public relations team to help promote Michigan Medicine?s clinical care, research, news and innovative education to the world. The intern will work with public relations and marketing team members to promote Michigan Medicine through the institution?s powerful social media channels, promoting storytelling, videos and blogs. Successful candidates will have excellent social media skills, background in social media strategy, adaptability, quick thinking, enthusiasm and creativity.

Responsibilities*
- Develop content for social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Pinterest to share stories about Michigan Medicine clinical care, research and educational efforts that build and spread engagement with patients, families and others seeking expert and authoritative health information.
- Community management and monitoring of Michigan Medicine?s social channels at direction of the social media strategist.
- Providing analysis of engagement and other social media metrics.
- Work with marketing and public relations team members on best practices for social channels.
- Participate in live stream video broadcasts.
Required Qualifications*
- Open to currently enrolled college students.
- Writing samples required.
- Must be comfortable in a multi-layered organization with complex reporting relationships.
Desired Qualifications*
- Communication, social media strategy background preferred.
- Experience with brand management, public relations or journalism is a plus.
Modes of Work

Additional Information
This job reports to the social media strategist.
$15 per hour.
Background Screening
