Job Summary

The Welch Laboratory is seeking a Research Associate II Temp to assist in designing a major research project; plan and develop experimental procedures and test controls; design research experiments; select equipment and staff; coordinate the conduct of the experimental test procedures; perform responsible administrative work, including the supervision of staff.

Responsibilities*

?    Design and lead major research or technical projects in alignment with program objectives and institutional priorities.
?    Contribute to the development and preparation of research proposals, including drafting technical sections, defining project aims, and assisting with grant submissions.
?    Plan and develop experimental procedures, methodologies, and appropriate test controls to ensure rigorous and reproducible research outcomes.
?    Design, implement, and evaluate research experiments, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation of results.
?    Identify and select appropriate research equipment, tools, and technologies necessary to support project goals.
?    Recruit, train, and supervise research personnel, including research assistants, technicians, and students, as appropriate.
?    Coordinate and oversee the execution of experimental protocols to ensure adherence to established procedures, timelines, and regulatory requirements.
?    Maintain accurate documentation of research activities, experimental results, and project progress.
?    Perform administrative and operational responsibilities related to project management, budgeting, reporting, and compliance.
?    Collaborate with internal and external partners to support interdisciplinary research initiatives and ensure successful project outcomes.
?    Prepare research reports, technical documents, and scholarly publications to disseminate findings.
?    Ensure compliance with institutional policies, safety standards, and relevant regulatory guidelines related to research activities.
 

Required Qualifications*

?    Graduation from a college or university with a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
?    Desired qualification: MS degree in Bioinformatics or closely related field
 

Modes of Work

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
