Job Summary

One NIH-funded postdoctoral fellow positions is available to study mechanisms of HIV persistence Dr. Collins? lab in the Department of Internal Medicine University of Michigan Medical School. NIH-funded projects include:

1. Development of strategies to promote immune clearance.

2. Identification of sources of persistent virus.

3. Single cell analysis of in vivo viral reservoirs and in vitro models of latency.

4. The innate immune response to HIV and mechanisms of immune evasion.

The successful candidate will join a well-established team of diverse researchers and will have the opportunity to develop independent research projects. Previous postdoctoral fellows trained in the laboratory have become independent faculty members at research universities, senior scientists in pharmaceutical companies and leaders in government agencies.

Responsibilities*

Full time independent research with attendance at lab meeting and one on one meetings.  Fellows will be expected to apply for funding opportunities for which they are eligible.

Required Qualifications*

  •  Must be pursuing advanced scientific or scholarly training, which may be in a clinical setting but is outside of the traditional clinical service and does not involve direct patient care.

  • Highly motivated candidates with a Ph.D. and first author publication (s) in virology, immunology, cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or genetics journals are encouraged to apply. 

Desired Qualifications*

Experience in virology would be particularly helpful.

Background Screening
