Job Summary
C.S. Mott Children's Hospital at Michigan Medicine is a seeking BE/BC Hospice and Palliative Medicine Pediatrician to join our Pediatric Palliative and Complex Care Programs, which is part of the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine. Position is full-time at an academic level commensurate with level of experience.
The Pediatric Palliative Care Program was established in 2005 and serves over 1000 children with serious and life-threatening illnesses per year as well as partnering with local hospice organizations to extend that care beyond the hospital walls and into the community. The program has become a leader in PPC education, quality improvement, and research, including development of interprofessional training models for communication, debriefing, end-of-life care, and resilience. In addition, the PPC program extended its reach in 2018 by implementing home-based palliative and complex care service for children with medical complexity.
Our hospital is a tertiary care pediatric hospital with 348 private inpatient beds, which includes three ICUs, four general care units, and a large labor and delivery and MFM service. Our Palliative and Complex Care Pediatricians are actively involved in education, quality improvement, research, and service to the hospital, participating in multiple leadership roles within the hospital, fellowship program, and department.
Responsibilities may include serving as a consulting attending physician on the Pediatric Palliative Care service, serving as an outpatient attending for the Pediatric Palliative Care clinic, clinical attending for the home-based pediatric complex/palliative care program for children with complexity, and pediatric hospice coverage. All clinical opportunities include supervision and teaching of medical fellows, residents, and interprofessional learners. We provide 24/7 home call divided amongst all partners which include the inpatient, outpatient, hospice, and home-based program.
All applications are welcome, with preference being given to individuals who are seeking full- or near-full time positions, have completed Pediatric Hospice and Medicine fellowship training, have interest in academic research and/or post-graduate education, and intend to make Pediatric Hospice and Palliative Medicine their primary career. Expertise working with diverse pediatric patient populations across settings and children with medical complexity also desired. Academic and leadership experience preferred but not required.

Required Qualifications*
The ideal candidate will have an MD or DO degree, be Board Eligible/Board Certified in Pediatrics and Hospice and Palliative Medicine and hold or have the ability to obtain the appropriate medical licenses in the State of Michigan. The ideal candidate will also have excellent clinical skills. Evidence of clinical competence and competence in clinical and didactic teaching is expected.
