Job Summary

Neurology is seeking an experienced, positive, highly motivated, organized person with excellent multi-tasking ability and record keeping skills to join our growing team. Must have exceptional written and verbal interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated experience delivering excellent customer service. Strong organizational skills and the ability to successfully complete multiple tasks within established and changing deadlines is required. Attention to detail, follow-through and time management skills are necessary. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a dedicated team. Ideal candidate will have experience working in a team-oriented atmosphere and can manage a fast paced work environment with the ability to promote professional relationships within a team environment. Associate Level- Must be proficient in use of MiChart. 

Responsibilities*

Including but not limited to: 

  • Provide customer service to patients by facilitating business processes (i.e. scheduling, virtual and in person, pre-arrival, check in and checkout confirm patient demographics, insurance coverage referring/primary care physician information)
  • Schedule and coordinate clinic and ancillary appointments upon checkout, referring and/or primary care physician information and requests. 
  • Collect cash and credit card payments from patients and daily cash reconciliation using established guidelines and following Mich. Medicine and Neurology Department procedures. Insure appropriate medical documentation and criteria have been met to initiate visit/procedure prior authorization process
  • Submit prior authorization request with clinical documentation using established guidelines based on patient's insurance carrier requirements. 
  • Support Subspecialty Clinic Providers
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Required Qualifications*

  •  3 or more years of customer service experience with medical environment
  •  Ability to fully utilize MI Chart (Epic system) to access Ambulatory Care functionality in scheduling, referrals, processing collections and generating reports
  • A successful candidate will be motivated and a self-starter
  •  Familiarity with MM policies and procedures
  •    Respectful and compassionate attitude promoting service excellence

  •      Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment

  •     Demonstrate flexible and creative problem solving skills

  •     Demonstrate integrity and commitment to exceeding the needs of our patients and families

  •     Ability to develop and maintain collaborative and collegial interactions with staff and faculty

  •        Maintain confidentiality in al business matters

  •         Demonstrated record of excellent attendance

  •       Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a very busy complex clinical setting is necessary

  •       Familiarity with insurance authorization process. 

     

  • Assistant: 

  •      High school diploma or GED

  •        0-2 years of experience

     

  • Associate: 

  • Bachelors' degree and/or two years of experience in a medical/health services setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary

Desired Qualifications*

  • Graduation from high school or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience
