Job Summary

The Finance Associate will support the integrity and efficiency of the organization's financial operations through comprehensive management of accounts receivable, payment reconciliations, and customer financial interactions.

Responsibilities*

  • Maintain credit card and other payment type reconciliation spreadsheets and ensure CRM system updates in a timely manner. Verify wire transfers with Banking Services to accurately apply payments to customer accounts and investigate discrepancies as they arise. Create manual invoices to key customer accounts based on specifications outlined in contracts.
  • Manage the accounts receivable (AR) process by proactively overseeing customer payment collections and ensuring the timely reconciliation of the AR aged debt report. Monitor outstanding balances closely, and initiate prompt and professional communications with customers to resolve delinquent accounts.
  • Comprehensive management of P-Card (Procurement Card) purchases and reconciliation of expense reimbursements, encompassing oversight and documentation of staff travel-related expenditures, business purchases, and compliance with university policies. Responsibilities include monitoring transactions for accuracy, ensuring timely submission of receipts and supporting documentation, and reviewing expense reports for adherence to allowable guidelines.
  • Efficiently manage CRM tickets and respond in a timely manner to test taker and customer inquiries related to refunds, payment application, and any other requests. Continually review processes for improvement opportunities and contribute to optimizing the overall customer experience.
  • Responsible for producing and distributing accurate monthly statements for the Institutional Affiliate (IA) network and Authorized Test Centers. Review statement data against contractual terms and supporting documentation to validate charges and resolve discrepancies. Authorize supplier payments in accordance with established controls and timelines.
  • Perform additional duties and make contributions as required, consistent with the scope of the role and aligned with the individual's level of expertise and experience.

Required Qualifications*

  • Associate's degree in a field closely related to business/accounting or equivalent work experience

Desired Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in a field closely related to business/accounting or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to quickly understand financial software packages
  • Familiar with University of Michigan policies and procedures and systems including M-Pathways and Business Objects
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics
  • Knowledge of Salesforce or similar software packages

Work Locations

Michigan Language Assessment is seeking candidates within commuting distance to Ann Arbor. This is a hybrid position with occasionally scheduled in person activities.
