How to Apply

Responsibilities*

  • To apply coats of plaster to interior and exterior walls, ceilings and partitions of buildings to produce a finished surface.
  • Coordinate and direct work of construction laborers.
  • Apply and level coats of plaster, using hawk, trowel, darby and straight edge.
  • Smooth surface and corners, using float and angle float.
  • Construct wooden or wire mesh mold to form ornamental castings for cornices and trim.
  • Create decorative textures in finish coat by marking it with brush and trowel or by spattering it with small stones.
  • Spray lath surface with water to insure adhesion of plaster to lath.
  • Erect scaffolding and ladders.
  • Roughen undercoat with scratcher to provide bond for succeeding coats of plaster.
  • Participate in the mixing, troweling, and curing of plaster.
  • Apply mortar.
  • Replace defective lathing, using hatchet, scoring knife, and tin snips.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches and job specifications.
  • Prepare records and service reports of materials and time expended.
  • Install plastic tile.

Required Qualifications*

  • Graduation from high school.
  • Considerable knowledge of the equipment, methods and materials involved in plasterer work.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and diagrams.
  • Reasonable recent experience in the fabrication and repair of plaster structures.
  • Skill in the layout and preparation of decorative textures.
  • Ability to perform plaster work.

Desired Qualifications*

Professional Certification:  Journeyman's Card

Specialized Knowledge:  Plaster, drywall repair, finish work.

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday:  7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

PLEASE NOTE: This is a year-round, 40 hour per week position.

Working Conditions:

Working conditions can vary from outside winter weather to confined spaces.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to ascend/descend ladders.
  • Move and transport objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to position self at low heights and awkward positions.
