Job Summary

Logistics, Transportation & Parking is seeking a full time Customer Service Representative to act as a Parking Ambassador for the patient and visitor parking structures at the Michigan Medicine parking facilities.

Responsibilities*

  • Drive parking facilities and scan license plates by using Patroller system
  • Assist patients and visitors by directing them to available parking spaces
  • Direct patients and visitors to their destination inside the hospitals, escort patients and visitors to areas inside the hospital
  • Greet and screen patients and visitors at the parking structures
  • Redirect non-patient and visitors to other parking areas, inform customers of alternative parking options by giving directions and handing out maps
  • Monitor parking space availability, monitor full conditions of parking facilities, redirect patients and visitors to available parking spaces and/or parking facilities
  • Assist patients and visitors with location of vehicle upon their return to the parking facility on foot or by use of motorized vehicle
  • Assist parkers with use of parking equipment (may handle customer's credit card and/or cash) to assist them with the transaction
  • Assist parkers with items they may need to their destination, as necessary (wheelchairs, strollers, belongings, etc.)
  • Act as a customer service ambassador to Michigan Medicine
  • Report any suspicious behavior to DPSS (Michigan Medicine Security) and supervisor
  • Monitor and report suspected unauthorized parking activity
  • Use university vehicle to drive to other locations to assist in parking operations
  • Maintain areas of the parking structure by assisting in cleaning, removal of trash, salting icy areas and snow removal
  • Report any elevator outages to supervisor
  • May work in a different classification depending on departmental staffing needs
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager

Required Qualifications*

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least one (1) year of customer service experience, preferably in a hospital setting  
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to stay active/moving for most of the shift
  • Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions
  • Ability to move/transport 30 pounds
  • Must have a valid drivers license  

Work Schedule

Monday-Friday, 10:00am to 6:30pm
