Job Summary
This posting is for a part-time Psychiatric Care Worker (PCW). PCWs under the direction of the Medical Director, ECT Clinical Nursing Supervisor and Clinical Nurses, provide staffing and clinical support to patients and staff in the Electroconvulsive Therapy Clinic (ECT).
Responsibilities*
Maintain an adequate supply of clean, disinfected, and/or properly dressed stretchers and wheelchairs.
Assist with clinical support tasks as directed, including preparing/placing/removing IV bags; obtaining vital signs; conducting pregnancy tests; placing/removing monitor leads; and securing rings/earrings as appropriate.
Transport patients to and from treatment areas and inpatient units; assist with ambulation, positioning, moving, and lifting patients in accordance with safety and mobility guidelines.
File required documentation, including paperwork and EEG strips.
Restock the refrigerator and snack bin with appropriate and available items.
Prepare and file ID bands, patient labels, consent forms, assessment forms, and patient schedules.
Clean and disinfect stretchers and equipment as needed; dispose of used linens in designated bins; clean ECT cart(s) and restock supplies as needed.
Complete bite block requisitions and deliver items for cleaning.
Perform other related duties as assigned by clinical staff.
Required Qualifications*
Completion of at least one year of college coursework (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated reliability, including a strong attendance record and consistent work performance.
Ability to safely transport and assist with moving patients via stretchers and wheelchairs throughout the facility.
Ability to receive, prioritize, and carry out directions from multiple staff members in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Desired Qualifications*
- Bachelor's Degree especially in Psychology, Neuroscience Preferred
- Certified Nurse Assistant or Paramedic Training
- Experience, working with psychiatric population in a clinical role.
Work Schedule
This Monday-Friday Day position consists of working up to 40 hours/week
Hours of Operation: 6am-4pm.
Start times may vary.
