Job Summary
Operates a magnetic resonance scanner to obtain images for use by physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of pathologies.
Responsibilities*
Perform diagnostic MRI procedures following established protocols, while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and confidentiality.
Review patient histories and MRI safety questionnaires to confirm procedure suitability and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Position patients using age-appropriate hearing protection and immobilization, optimizing anatomical area visibility.
Maintain MR safety standards for patients and staff.
Select appropriate imaging coils and operate MR equipment, evaluating image quality and ensuring accurate documentation.
Prepare and administer contrast media under Radiologist supervision, according to departmental guidelines.
Provide clear instructions and support to patients, students, and health professionals.
Demonstrate exceptional guest relations and uphold strict patient confidentiality.
Maintain clean, well-stocked scan and control rooms, routinely restocking supplies and linen.
Collaborate continuously with technologists, lead technologists, and multidisciplinary teams.
Train new staff as needed and perform check-in or patient preparation duties to ensure uninterrupted operations
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications*
Registered MRI Technologists by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT).
OR
Enrolled in an MRI program, and eligible to complete the ARRT or ARMRIT MRI Registry. First registry attempt must be within 6 months from hire/transfer. 3 attempts must be completed within 18 months from hire/transfer.
Desired Qualifications*
Recent hospital-based MRI experience.
MRI advanced imaging and research experience.

Modes of Work
Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.
Work Schedule
Hours and Days: Working every other weekend (7a-7p) and alternating Monday-Wednesday and Wednesday-Friday 3p-11p.
Scheduling Flexibility: The department makes every effort to provide consistent schedules; however, shifts and schedules may be adjusted as necessary to meet patient care and operational requirements.

Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
