Job Summary

The University of Michigan School of Dentistry (Ann Arbor) invites qualified applications for the Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor position in the Division of Dental Hygiene in the Department of Periodontics and Oral Medicine. The salary and rank will be commensurate with experience, education, and credentials.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a clinical assistant, associate, or full professor on the clinical track to join a vibrant and well-established department. The Division of Dental Hygiene and the Department of Periodontics and Oral Medicine at the University of Michigan have long maintained strong leadership roles, advancing research and academic direction in their fields. 

The Division of Dental Hygiene at the University of Michigan is internationally recognized for clinical and academic excellence in the field of dental hygiene. The Division provides clinical patient care at the undergraduate and graduate levels, both at the School of Dentistry and in community-based dental programs. The Division offers exceptional research environments. Numerous opportunities are available for collaboration within the dental school and the greater university community. This position offers the opportunity to establish an intramural clinical practice.

Required Qualifications*

Required qualifications include a Master's degree in dental hygiene or equivalent degree and eligibility for dental hygiene licensure in the state of Michigan. Also, a demonstrated record of scholarly activity, teaching excellence, professional service, and clinical experience appropriate to a university setting. Scholarly activity should include evidence of contributions to clinical, educational, or behavioral research. Experience in leadership at the institutional, state, or national level is preferred, such as leadership in professional organizations, education programs, mentorship, committees, or initiatives.

The successful candidate will have an established reputation in academia and a vision for the future of dental hygiene education. Successful candidates will also have collaborative and interpersonal communication skills consistent with faculty expectations at a major university and the ability to contribute meaningfully to the Division's academic mission, strategic priorities, and national visibility. 

Desired Qualifications*

Experience in grant writing, grant development, and/or grant administration is desirable.
