Responsibilities*

  • Collaborate with the care team to plan, implement, and evaluate activity care programs

  • Plan and conduct appropriate activity programs for patients

  • Evaluate and document patients' activities, progress and the emotional, social, mental and/or physical condition of patients through the activity.

  • Organize and maintain program materials, supplies, and equipment

  • Communicate with family members regarding participant's status

  • Monitor participants continued eligibility for program

  • Participate in staff meetings and committees as assigned

  • Ability to develop educational programs on a specific topic

  • Perform other duties as assigned

NOTE: This is a 24-hour/week position

Required Qualifications*

Associates degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience 
Three years of demonstrated and specific experience working with older adults with mild to moderate dementia and their family/caregivers

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires frequent standing/walking, as well as lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring of participants.

Modes of Work

Union Affiliation

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.

Background Screening
