Job Summary

The Section of Plastic Surgery at the University of Michigan is seeking applications for a full-time clinical-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate-level. The University of Michigan Section of Plastic Surgery is a vibrant, growing practice, comprised of 19 clinical faculty members, two research faculty, five clinical fellows, and 27 residents. We manage a high-volume clinical enterprise, with more than 27,000 clinic visits and 3,500+ operative cases annually.  

Responsibilities of the selected candidate will include direct patient care, didactic and clinical teaching, scholarly activity, and engagement in service at the department, medical school, and university levels. Clinical care will include, but is not limited to, clinic visits, procedural, and surgical activity in complex hand and wrist surgery, including management of degenerative disease, complex nerve reconstruction, arthroscopy, and management of complex trauma. The selected candidate will also be expected to take hand trauma call.

Required Qualifications*

  • Possess an M.D. 
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Plastic Surgery residency
  • Completion of a Hand Surgery fellowship
  • Board-certified/board-eligible by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) or acceptable equivalents listed below:
    • Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) 
    • Royal College of Physicians of London (RAP)
    • The Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCS)
  • Hold, or be eligible to acquire, a medical license in the State of Michigan
  • Evidence of proficiency in all aspects of hand surgery, including complex hand & wrist surgery, with excellent technical skills
  • Evidence of scholarly activity and competency in clinical/didactic teaching
