Responsibilities*
- To provide nursing care to the Neuro Ophthalmology patient population
- Monitor in-basket messages and triage appropriately
- Document accurately and efficiently in the electronic medical record
- Collaborate and interact effectively with the interdisciplinary team.
- Management of high-risk medications such as steroids, IMT, IVIG and plasmapheresis
- Perform IMT counseling for the neuro-ophthalmology patient population.
- Order and follow labs for the ophthalmic patient populations, including patients on immunomodulatory therapy.
- Provide patient education for both neurologic and ophthalmic conditions.
- Assist providers with the care of clinic patients, including treatments, assessments, and patient care orders.
- Assist providers with direct admission of patients to the hospital from the clinic or home
- Assist providers with triaging of outpatient referrals and escalate as appropriate
- Provide telephone management of ophthalmic patient population which includes: triage of calls from patients, families, clinicians and other health care team members.
- Collaborate with other health care team members and associated resource persons to provide continuity of care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Create, update and manage patient education for the neuro ophthalmology population
- Provide nursing care and support to additional ophthalmic providers as assigned

Required Qualifications*
Current licensure to practice nursing in the state of Michigan.
Minimum of (5) five years RN experience providing direct care to adult neurology patients

Desired Qualifications*
BSN
Recent (within the last 5 years) experience with telehealth nursing, including phone triage, patient assessment and education
Current ambulatory care experience preferred
Experience with care coordination for infusions and direct admission to the hospital from the clinic
Previous experience with the ordering and management of DME preferred
Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and work autonomously to prioritize patient care needs
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and maintain professional working relationships
Two (2) or more years of recent (in last 5 years) experience with electronic medical records, specifically EPIC. Computer/typing skills such as Microsoft Word and Excel.

- Night Shift Weekend Differential- $6.90 / hour

Nursing Specific Info
Salary & Nursing Framework Level:
This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C.
Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level F.
Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position.

Modes of Work
Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.
Work Schedule
Hours: 40 hrs/wk, variable shifts, Monday through Friday.
Shift: Days, Variable shifts. Flexibility in scheduling is required.
Location: Kellogg Eye Center with locations as needed based on divisional growth changes/strategies.
This position is not a remote position.
? All employees will be expected to float to a designated unit in times of low census or department needs.
