Job Summary

Main Responsibilities

You will manage recruitment workflows independently and oversee the end-to-end talent lifecycle, adapting quickly to shifting institutional needs.

  • Active Direct Sourcing: You will use LinkedIn, database mining, and varied recruitment streams to find talent rather than waiting for applicants.
  • Agile Full-Cycle Recruiting: You will pivot between diverse departments and skillsets, managing concurrent searches for multiple professions.
  • Hiring Manager Partnership: Be a consultant and coach to managers, identifying staffing needs, designing objective selection practices, and expediting job offers.
  • Candidate Relationship Management: Cultivate pipelines and serve as the face of LSA, keeping applicants engaged from application to offer.
  • Process Improvement: Evaluate recruitment practices and develop intuitive resources to help managers build self-sufficiency.
  • Networking: Collaborate and share best practices with recruitment networks across the university ecosystem and external industry groups.
     

Required Qualifications*

  • Education & Experience: Undergraduate degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) plus 3+ years of full-cycle recruitment and selection experience
  • Responsiveness: Ability to manage a high volume of diverse requisitions independently, pivoting strategies when a search stalls.
  • Generalist Mindset: Quickly learn the technical jargon and unique requirements of varied professions to engage managers and candidates.
  • Technical Skills: Intermediate proficiency with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), ERP data extraction queries, and office productivity software.
  • Communication: You can discuss and write clear communications to guide hiring panels, manage applicant expectations, and lead processes forward.
  • Priority Management: Ability to identify goals, eliminate roadblocks, and focus time on high-priority tasks.

About LSA and the Role

The College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA) at the University of Michigan is looking for a versatile, independent recruiter. You will be the talent expert for ~1,400 hourly and salaried staff positions across 18 diverse professions, ranging from administrative and student services to technical and research roles.
 

  • Salary Range: $73,500 - $92,000 (Higher salary possible for a well-qualified candidate)
  • Work Arrangement: Hybrid (2 days/week remote; on-site at the 309 Maynard office in Ann Arbor)
  • Reporting: Reports directly to the LSA HR Director
