Job Summary

The Center for Innovation within the University of Michigan Department of Surgery is seeking a research associate to participate in the design and execution of research projects and support technical development for current and future projects related to XR simulation and education and training derived from the Medical and Extended Reality (MIXR) NSF IUCRC grant. This role will also assist with manuscript development with the research team, solicit and recruit industry partners for paying membership to MIXR center, and attend meetings with faculty, residents, students, and industry partners involved in MIXR center. Some travel is required. 

Required Qualifications*

  •  Coursework or experience in extended reality, learning design, digital media production, medical technologies, or related fields
  •  Willingness to take on unfamiliar, complex tasks that require specific processes
  • Familiarity with drafting documentation and iterative development
  • Excellent work ethic
  • Superb attention to detail and outstanding organizational skills 
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to effectively communicate with staff and faculty of all levels
