Job Summary

The University of Michigan Shared Services Center (U-M SSC) is a customer service organization focused on providing user-friendly and cost-effective administrative services to the university community. The SSC offers key financial and human resource transaction services to customers.

Reporting to the Employment Process Supervisor, you will serve as a critical member of the Employment Processing Team. You will be assigned to a Regional I-9 Center and will process all I-9 paperwork for university employees.

Work Locations:

This position is 100% on-site in Ann Arbor, MI. Candidates must be available to work at any of the following University of Michigan processing locations:

  • The Michigan Union (Central Campus)
  • The Shared Services Center (Off Campus)
  • Pierpont Commons (North Campus)

Work Schedule

  • Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Training: Mandatory training begins August 17th.
  • Peak Dates: August 21st - September 25th

Responsibilities*

  • Process electronic and paper-based I-9 forms for new and existing employees in a high-volume environment
  • Conduct physical examinations of original identity and employment authorization documents to ensure federal compliance
  • Toggle efficiently between multiple websites and internal university systems such as M-Pathways (PeopleSoft) to access and review employee record verification
  • Maintain strict confidentiality while handling sensitive personal information and protected employee data
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications*

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years of experience providing Customer Service
  • Intermediate level proficiency with data entry and computer skills
  • 1+ years of experience with business software solutions
