As a member of the Communications team in the Office of Marketing and Communications, the Writer/Editor will develop content for internal and external communications channels, working in a collaborative environment. You will be the writer and managing editor of the school's monthly internal newsletter. Additionally, you will be the editorial style expert, maintaining internal writing style guideline documents, and produce marketing content for signature school events, including the annual spring commencement. You will report to the Director of Communications.
This hybrid position is based in Ann Arbor, MI, with an expectation of three days per week on-site. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain that authorization throughout employment.

Responsibilities*
Newsletter content planning and development
- Plan content calendar for monthly staff and faculty newsletter.
- Interview subject-matter-experts and write newsletter features.
- Design and distribute newsletter using the Mailchimp publishing tool.
- Build relationships across the school to maintain a pipeline of content topics.
- Partner with faculty leadership communications lead to identify opportunities to publicize faculty expertise and achievements.
Writing
- Develop marketing content for the website and emails to promote signature school events, including the spring commencement.
- Write occasional online stories to promote the student experience with an important focus on experiential learning opportunities.
- Develop communications to promote school initiatives and internal units.
- Collaborate with PR team members in developing an annual content calendar with a primary focus on promoting the school's academic degree programs.
Copy editing and maintaining editorial style guidelines
- Update editorial writing style guidelines and advise on the appropriate use of style.
- Copy edit marketing content, including for the website.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years of experience in a marketing or communications role.
- Experience developing copy for a variety of channels, including newsletters, marketing emails, web, and print.
- Experience using cloud-based marketing platforms for building, sending, and tracking email newsletters.
- Proficient in Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, and Sheets)
- Copywriting and proofing skills and proficiency in AP Style.

Additional Information
Salary Information:
The salary offer range for this position is $59,000 to $72,700. Salary offers are determined based on several factors, including a candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications, along with internal equity considerations. It is not common for new hires to be placed at the top of the range.
