Job Summary

The Division of Rheumatology is looking for a Research Associate to assist with the project "Impact of an Inflammatory Arthritis Task Trainer and Curriculum on Rheumatology Referrals from Surgical Specialties" that will introduce simulation-based education (SBE) to teach the musculoskeletal hand examination to orthopedic and plastic surgery residents.

Responsibilities*

The individual in this role will support the coordination and implementation of a research study related to hand examination training. Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain clear, professional communication with study team members, participants, and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate strong organization, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and professional integrity.
  • Assist with maintaining study schedules, timelines, and logistics to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Coordinate and schedule research-related meetings.
  • Monitor data collection activities and ensure data are collected accurately and consistently.
  • Obtain consent from learners and assist with videotaping hand examinations for study data collection.
  • Support data analysis, including data cleaning, sorting, and preparation.
  • Prepare data reports for the research team.
  • Manage regulatory documentation, including Institutional Review Board materials, as needed.
  • Submit and track reimbursement forms.
  • Update and distribute a monthly study newsletter.
  • Assist with ordering and organizing materials needed for hand model production.
  • Set up and clean up materials, equipment, and space for simulation-based education activities.
  • Complete other research-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications*

  • Working toward or graduated from college or university with a bachelors degree. Some work experience in research or related technical fields

Desired Qualifications*

  • Master's degree in a related field

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Work Locations

This position requires approximately 7 hours per week and will include a combination of virtual work and in-person work in Ann Arbor. The selected candidate must be available on August 13 and August 19 for study-related activities.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
