Job Summary

The University of Michigan is seeking a highly talented Assistant Women's Golf Coach. This position will be responsible for all phases of a Division I program, within University, Big Ten Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. The responsibilities include, but not limited to individual and team training, recruitment of prospective student-athletes, alumni and donor communication, and the ability to assist student-athletes and head coach to achieve exceptionally high athletic and academic goals.

Responsibilities*

  • Assist the head coach in the planning, organizing, directing, and implementing all phases of a Division 1 Women's Golf program.
  • Assist in organizing, planning, and implementation of practices, tournaments and travel logistics.
  • Assist in the development of all team members and facilitate creating a culture of improvement at the highest level.
  • Participate in on and off-campus evaluation and recruiting of student-athletes including evaluation, building a relationship with recruits, coordination of campus visits and monitoring recruits progress through NCAA and University rules.
  • Assist in the monitoring of student-athlete's academic progress.
  • Participate in public and alumni relations as well as fundraising efforts.
  • Comply with NCAA, Big Ten, and University regulations and oversee all monitoring requirements outlined by Michigan Athletics and the NCAA.
  • Must communicate effectively with all team members and support staff within Michigan Athletics and the UM community.
  • Assist in managing and operations of home collegiate golf tournaments.
  • Assists with budget preparation and operations within approved budget allocations.
  • Manages equipment and uniform orders for the program.
  • Assists in conducting golf camps on an administrative level as well as day-to-day operations.
  • Engages in ongoing professional development.
  • Strong knowledge in technology to utilize in the development of team members.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Head Coach in support of overall team success.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Previous coaching and/or extensive playing experience
  • Thorough knowledge and adherence of NCAA rules, Big Ten rules and intercollegiate athletics
  • Knowledge and/or experience of the recruitment process
  • Must work with and communicate effectively and develop meaningful relationships with all team members and support staff within Michigan Athletics and the UM community.
  • Strong ability to train and motivate student-athletes
     

Desired Qualifications*

  • Coaching and playing experience at the NCAA Division I level preferred.
