Job Summary

This position will lead the planning, scoping, and execution of multiple concurrent, time-limited projects of moderate to complex scope under the guidance of the Senior Director, Revenue Cycle. The Project Manager will utilize Agile project management practices to ensure that projects are defined, tracked, communicated, and implemented in a consistent and effective manner. This position conducts project meetings and is responsible for project tracking, analysis, and reporting.

This position partners with UMMG, Ambulatory Care Services, Revenue Cycle divisions, and other areas across Michigan Medicine, including UM Health-Ann Arbor, UM Health-Sparrow, and UM Health-West.

Responsibilities*

Project Leadership and Execution

Project Initiation

  • Review project documentation and scope.
  • Work with leadership and key stakeholders to validate project approach, goals, objectives, and deliverables.

Project Planning

  • Collaborate with Project Director(s), customers, project team members, and stakeholders to define project scope and develop project plans that successfully guide projects through completion.
  • Create project documentation, including project plans, scope documents, timelines, specifications, status report templates, and communication plans.
  • Assemble and lead project teams, assign responsibilities, identify appropriate resources, and develop schedules to ensure timely completion.
  • Schedule and facilitate project team meetings.
  • Develop and utilize supporting data, analytical tools, benchmarking, metrics, and measurement frameworks to inform progress, impact, and decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.

Project Execution

  • Manage project resources, functions, and activities in a timely and coordinated manner while ensuring alignment with institutional policies, standards, and benchmarks.
  • Support project execution by maintaining project documentation, conducting analyses, and facilitating problem resolution.
  • Track team performance and recommend corrective or preventive actions as needed.
  • Develop and execute effective communication plans to ensure stakeholders remain informed, engaged, and involved throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare written reports and data visualizations that effectively translate project performance into actionable insights.
  • Foster collaborative relationships across project teams and departments impacted by project activities.
  • Manage final project closeout activities, including documentation of outcomes and transition of sustainable components to operational partners, as appropriate.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong healthcare background.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible project management experience leading medium- to large-scale or enterprise-wide projects.
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to create concise, effective project documentation and presentations.
  • Documentation samples will be requested during the interview process.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills.

Based on experience and qualifications, this position may be underfilled as an Intermediate Project Manager.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Five (5) or more years of project management experience.
  • Experience leading Epic-related projects.
  • Demonstrated experience leading process improvement and organizational change initiatives.
  • Extensive experience in customer relationship management.
  • Experience understanding and documenting operational workflows and translating them into system workflows.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.

Modes of Work

Work Locations

This position is eligible for remote work following completion of training and demonstrated achievement of performance expectations.

  • High-speed internet service is required and is the responsibility of the employee.
  • Occasional onsite attendance may be required for meetings, technology-related needs, or work that cannot be completed remotely.
  • Workspace will be available at the business location when onsite work is necessary.
  • While some flexibility in work hours is available, employees must maintain availability during Eastern Time Zone business hours to support meetings and collaboration, including video conferencing.
  • The employer will provide computing resources, including required software applications, VPN access, desktop or laptop computer, monitor, webcam, keyboard, and mouse.
  • Employees are not provided with a mobile phone but will have access to computer-based telephone and fax technology.
  • Office furniture and equipment, including desks, chairs, and printers, are not provided.
  • Basic office supplies, such as paper and pens, are available for pickup at the business location.
  • Unless otherwise approved by a manager, additional hardware, software, printing expenses, and employee-preferred office supplies are the responsibility of the employee.

Required Technology Skills

  • Ability to set up computers, monitors, and peripheral devices, including keyboards, mice, and webcams.
  • Ability to effectively utilize remote support resources.
  • Remote computing support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via phone, chat, or ticketing system.
  • Employees are expected to communicate effectively and work directly with support resources to resolve most computing issues.

Background Screening
