Job Summary
As a graduate of the Wolverine Pathways (WP) program, the WP Alumni Relations Fellow will serve as a key contributor and programming lead for Wolverine Pathways alumni relations efforts. Responsible for designing and executing alumni-focused programming and professional development, the Fellow will coordinate volunteer opportunities and social functions to keep alumni connected to each other and to current WP scholars. The Fellow will also foster intergenerational professional learning, mentoring, and networking opportunities by leveraging the interests and commitments of University of Michigan (U-M) alumni and the ever-growing population of WP alumni. As the first point of contact for WP alumni within and beyond the U-M Ann Arbor campus, the Fellow will enhance WP's ability to remain connected to its graduates and track their progress and outcomes longitudinally. The Fellow will also have an opportunity to network and build relationships with representatives of local and national college access and success efforts to support the goals of Wolverine Pathways and their own professional development. The Fellow will otherwise assist WP in mounting programming for current scholars. Ideal candidates will possess a commitment to championing causes that serve low-income individuals and communities of color. Proven ability to work in diverse context and facilitate inclusive environments or engagement are essential to this role. Fellows will have access to funds to facilitate their professional development and opportunities for personal and professional growth such as local conferences.
The WP Fellowship is a one-year appointment with the opportunity to extend the appointment into a second year if staff performance and programming goals permit.
Responsibilities*
- Manage alumni relations and services including corresponding with WP alumni; maintaining their contact details, assisting in the tracking of their progress and outcomes, and scheduling and planning of alumni focused events and volunteer opportunities.
- Facilitate alumni engagement in various in-person and virtual group and individual settings.
- Support WPstaff in the design, implementation, and evaluation of student professional development programming, summer enrichment, events, and coaching sessions.
- Facilitate virtual and in-person sessions that support the college readiness of scholars and also their professional development pre- through and post- college completion. beyond.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge on industry trends and relevant areas including: resources for the latest information on college access, professional development, career readiness, and job searching.
- Assist with planning and staffing of additional Wolverine Pathways virtual and in-person events as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the program.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's Degree; will also consider 2026 spring/summer graduates.
- Prior successful completion of Wolverine Pathways program
- Excellent organizational skills
- Experience managing multiple projects or responsibilities
- Some experience with student or group facilitation and event planning
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Possess an interest in college preparation and retention, and a desire to create a more equitable society
Desired Qualifications*
- Experience working with Excel and Google Sheets
- Experience with student outreach
- Possess a degree in a relevant subject area (i.e. education, psychology, student affairs, sociology, social justice, etc)
