NOTICE OF FILING OF APPLICATION FOR LABOR CERTIFICATION
An application concerning the employment of one or more alien workers for the following permanent position will be filed with the Department of Labor.
This Notice of Filing will be posted for 10 consecutive business days, ending between 30 and 180 days before filing the permanent labor certification application.
EMPLOYER: University of Michigan (UMH Infection Prevention and Epidemiology)
POSITION TITLE: Infection Preventionist Senior
POSITION DUTIES: Expert Infection Preventionist (IP) responsible for collaborating to develop, implement, and sustain IP strategies. Specific duties:
- Establish, implement and monitor infection prevention and control program and practices
- Synthesize information to effectively communicate program needs
- Align IPE program goals with organizational goals
- Conduct and manage performance and completion of institutional multidisciplinary projects related to prevention of healthcare-acquired conditions. Includes meeting planning, project tracking, data analysis, development of goals, work plans, schedules, project estimates, presentations, and status reports
- Develop opportunities for mentoring and training of associate and intermediate level infection preventionists
- Lead daily departmental huddles and other department-level meetings
- Participate in teaching opportunities in School of Public Health/School of Nursing or related
- Lead infection prevention in collecting, reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting surveillance data.
- Evaluate the significance of surveillance and investigation findings to make recommendations for improvements to clinicians and administrators targeted to rescue or eliminate infectious risks in patients and staff
- Apply advanced epidemiologic and surveillance principles to detect clusters or outbreaks of infection
- Lead infection prevention data collection, analysis, and visualization
- Use technology to guide facility strategic planning and resource utilization
- Conduct activities related to exposure of patients and employees to communicable diseases
- Develop, review, evaluate, and implement infection prevention and control policies to improve quality of care
- Observe, advise, and train faculty and staff regarding assessing, preventing, and controlling infection risks
- Consult with department and administrative staff on infection prevention and control issues
- Participate in interdisciplinary quality improvement projects
- Develop routine quality improvement reports for areas of coverage as appropriate
- Conduct rounds and perform coaching on infection prevention priorities such as The Joint Commission and healthcare-associated infection prevention
- Provide liaison to regulatory and accrediting agencies and health departments
- Collaborate with the institutional high-level disinfection project manager on related issues
One remote workday per week permitted.
REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in Public Health + board certification in Infection Prevention (CIC) + 3 years of infection prevention experience to include: conducting surveillance and data analysis of hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) using National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) surveillance definitions and recommending appropriate actions to patient care teams to reduce or eliminate infectious risks in patient populations.

HOURS: Full-time, forty hours per week.
RATE OF PAY: $92,291 per year. (The employer will pay at least the prevailing wage for the position, as determined by the U.S. Department of Labor and/or State Workforce Agency [SWA].)
