Video assignment:

 

Produce a 30-60 second video geared towards prospective students for Instagram. The video should focus on why someone should attend the College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS). Think outside the box when making the video, it could be the top 3 reasons why someone should attend CECS, it could showcase cool spots within CECS, or maybe it features a student org. Some guidelines for the video include:

 

  • Length of 30-60 seconds
  • Must be vertical
  • Showcase your creativity
  • Should include campus footage: please feel free to use some of the following assets if needed.

What You'll Do

  • Brainstorm, pitch ideas, and create social media content for prospective and current student audiences. 
  • Edit videos, and photos into engaging content for targeted audiences. 
  • Recruit CECS students to participate in social media content and videos.
  • Attend CECS events to capture photos and videos for social media, using a personal smartphone. 
  • Develop content capture plans, which includes scripts, schedules, and organization. 
  • Optimize content for appropriate social media platforms: LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp. 
  • Provide feedback and student perspective on CECS marketing.
  • Provide as-needed event support (setup, staffing, teardown).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications*

  • Must be a current or incoming undergraduate or graduate student at the University of Michigan-Dearborn College of Engineering and Computer Science.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Excellent communications skills, including interpersonal skills. 
  • Proficiency in social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook. 
  • Experience working with video editing software and capturing video and photography. 
  • Organized, dependable and strong attention to detail. 
  • Creative and willing to learn new things.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team. 

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.
