We are currently seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist with expertise in the evaluation and treatment of lymphedema. The preferred candidate will have outpatient experience managing lymphedema in patients with a variety of underlying conditions, including oncology, vascular, and other lymphatic disorders. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team, are required.
As an Occupational Therapist at Michigan Medicine, you will conduct patient evaluations and treatments for a variety of lymphedema diagnoses in outpatient clinic settings. Collaborating directly with patients and their families, you will create an individualized treatment plan based on a comprehensive evaluation of their current abilities and needs, as well as lifestyle and personal goals. Our Occupational Therapists who treat patients with lymphedema are nationally certified therapists who have specialized and advanced training in the evaluation and treatment of edema. Additionally, we are one of the few NLN Accredited Programs. Required Qualifications*
Occupational Therapist
- If licensed before 1/1/2007: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy
- If licensed on or after 1/1/2007: Master's or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy
Satisfactory completion of an internship program
- Current Michigan Registration in Occupational Therapy and NBCOT membership
- This classification requires Primary Source Verification
Occupational Therapist Grad
Associate or bachelor?s degree in a recognized field of science or learning which is directly related to the
duties of the position, as well as a necessary master?s degree in Occupational Therapy, and are actively
pursuing the appropriate certification/registration/licensure for their profession
Desired Qualifications*
Our ideal candidates would also have:
- Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) certification or equivalent clinical experience in lymphedema evaluation and treatment required
- Course work in Klose, ACOLS or Norton
- Ability to understand and communicate information both orally and in writing so that others will understand
- 3 years of experience managing outpatient oncology related lymphedema including ordering, measuring, and fitting garments for related edema reduction.
- 3 years of experience collaborating with multiple external vendors for obtaining garments for edema reduction. Including knowledge of required documentation and insurance authorization requirements
- LANA certification or eligibility to obtain LANA certification
- Additional experience in wound care evaluation and treatment
- A collaborative work style and positive attitude to add to our highly performing multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Ability to be collaborative and a team player
- Current CPR and first aid certification.

Modes of Work
Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.
Work Schedule
The clinic is scheduled with patients Monday-Friday 7:00 AM to 6:30 PM. This position is 40 hours a week and you will be expected to cover closing shifts.
Union Affiliation
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
Background Screening
