Responsibilities*
The Interim Director of the Contemporary Directions Ensemble will provide high-level pedagogy and artistic leadership as conductor and chamber music coach, with related administrative responsibilities.
Two rehearsals each week
Two to four concert programs, to be determined
Effort %: 25%
Start date of appt: 1/1/27
Expected date of offer: 8/10/26
Required Qualifications*
Qualifications:
Doctoral degree
At least 10 years experience in a leadership position of a similar ensemble at an institution of higher education considered to be a peer or near-peer of the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance.
Proven experience curating and conducting programs and projects involving multidisciplinary collaboration
A record of premiering pieces by both emerging and established composers
A record of programming pieces by composers of diverse ethnicities and backgrounds
Modes of Work
This position will be expected to teach on campus weekly.
