Job Summary

The Marketing and Communications Manager - APAC (Asia-Pacific) is responsible for developing and implementing successful marketing and stakeholder communications strategies for the APAC region (following the organization's global strategies) to raise brand awareness, to position our products and services as top choices for our domestic and global target audiences, to grow our customer pool, and to contribute to the achievement of annual sales objectives. Within the APAC region, the position leads development and execution of regional marketing strategies, campaigns, and activities for Business to Business (B2B) and Business to Consumer (B2C) customers, and oversees our brand image, public relations and events. The Marketing and Communications Manager - APAC defines and executes the regional marketing strategy for the APAC region in line with global strategy.

Responsibilities*

  • Develop and implement an annual tactical marketing plan for each priority market in the region, taking into account internal and external stakeholders, market trends, end users' needs, and competitors' marketing initiatives that support our strategic business plan, mission, brand and product awareness. Determines which markets within APAC are prioritized and how regional investment is allocated. The scope covers Australia, Southeast Asia, and SAARC a complex, multi-market spanning diverse regulatory environments, customer segments, and competitive landscapes. Develop, execute, and evaluate customer-focused, cost-effective communications and marketing strategies and campaigns that increase awareness, engagement, and adoption of the organization's full portfolio of assessment products and services.
  • In close collaboration with the US-based Marketing and Communications team, manage marketing and stakeholder content and communications, ensuring they are compelling, accurate and appropriate for the intended audiences. Meet internal strategy and branding guidelines as appropriate for various stakeholders and platforms.
  • Develop and implement new localized digital marketing strategies and tools for B2B and B2C channels (following the organization's global guidelines) to promote our products among test takers, strategic partners, and global target audiences. Enhance stakeholders' engagement and increase brand awareness and recognition. Analyze and report on effectiveness of campaigns to improve growth strategies and results.
  • Recommend, onboard, and manage external marketing agencies and service providers where needed to implement targeted marketing and promotional campaigns that support our strategic goals and key objectives.
  • Measure and report performance of marketing and communication campaigns. Gather and interpret marketing analytics using a variety of tools to ensure positive impact to annual sales, tracking customer and market trends, optimizing business impacts, and improving strategy. Prepare, monitor, and analyze objectives and key results (OKR's), measure ROI of campaigns and marketing strategies, and suggest improvements to maximize impact.
  • Plan and coordinate public relations (PR) activities, initiating campaigns in line with marketing and stakeholder engagement plans, working with partners and PR companies, issuing press releases, and liaising with media contacts to inform them about latest developments, events, and accomplishments.
  • Manage the marketing team in the APAC region. Lead on hiring committees, training, performance management, and support the activities of the marketing staff. Provide constructive feedback and coaching as necessary.
  • Ensure strategic alignment of product marketing and marketing communications with brand strategy. Develop, implement, and enforce branding guidelines that are aligned with our parent organizations' brands.
  • Contribute to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the long-term strategic business plan, including budgeting and resource management.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing and communications or related field
  • Demonstrable experience in the marketing and communications field
  • Strong writing and copy editing skills
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Strong analytical and data driven thinking
  • Excellent presentation skills and ability to work with stakeholders - internal and external
  • Solution oriented
  • Experience running paid search campaigns and managing social media marketing efforts
  • Intercultural awareness
  • Proficient in English
  • Competent in marketing analytics, marketing calendar tools, SEO, and digital marketing platforms and tools
  • Ability to analyze customers' needs, expectations, and behaviors

Desired Qualifications*

  • Master's degree in marketing and communications or related field
  • Data visualization, infographics, dashboard development experience
  • Experience in Digital Marketing Analytics or Marketing Automation Systems
  • Experience working with educational, academic, or assessment-related projects and audiences
  • Proficiency in other languages

Work Locations

Michigan Language Assessment is looking for candidates located in or near the Melbourne, Australia area. 

This position may be eligible for remote and/or flexible work opportunities at the discretion of the hiring department. Flexible work agreements are reviewed annually and are subject to change dependent on the business needs of the hiring department, throughout the course of employment.

This position will be hired through Cambridge University Press and Assessment but work for the organization Michigan Language Assessment. 

Annual salary range $88,000 - $122,000 AUD.
