Responsibilities*
GSI duties are expected to include class attendance, office hours, meetings and grading and other appropriately related duties as assigned but not to exceed the 50% appointment fraction. See Fraction Calculation Form for a general idea of duties.
Required Qualifications*
Current doctoral or masters student at the University of Michigan with appropriate knowledge of public health and the familiarity with the content of this course. Preference for Public Health or Ross School of Business students performing excellently, with proven knowledge and skills about the course content.
Desired Qualifications*
Demonstrated teaching skills and experience. Familiarity with the instructor and this specific course a plus.
Course Description
HMP 682: Case Studies in Health Services Administration --- Analysis of cases dealing with administrative and policy issues in health services, offered as one of two integrative capstone course for persons completing the MHSA or MPH in the Department of Health Management and Policy. The course addresses primarily issues of healthcare delivery, from the perspective of corporate strategy. Emphasis is on student solutions to ill-defined, multi-faceted problems taken from actual situations. Specific competencies developed by the course address both process team work and collaboration to analyze complex issues, presentation skills and contents identifying key business success factors and strategic alternatives to provider organizations and health insurers in various settings.

Selection Process
The instructor will select the GSI best suited to this position based on discipline, relevant knowledge about course topics, general knowledge of public health management, and knowledge and understanding of the course & program.
