Job Summary
The Project Manager Associate serves as the primary coordinator and project manager for a portfolio of strategic initiatives that advance the mission, priorities, and visibility of the Frankel Cardiovascular Center (FCVC). This role leads the planning, execution, and evaluation of high-impact engagement activities, stakeholder communications, special projects, publications, and strategic events.
Working closely with Frankel CVC leadership, faculty, staff, donors, advisory board members, organizational partners, and Michigan Medicine colleagues, the position manages project timelines, coordinates stakeholders, develops implementation plans, and ensures successful completion of initiatives that support organizational goals. The role requires strong project management, communication, relationship management, and organizational skills, with responsibility spanning multiple concurrent projects and priorities.
Responsibilities*
Strategic Project Management (35%)
Lead planning, execution, monitoring, and completion of strategic initiatives supporting FCVC priorities, including:
Multi-Disciplinary Grand Rounds
Special Grand Rounds
Town Halls
National Advisory Board (NAB)
Community outreach and stakeholder engagement activity
FCVC Annual Report
International Programs Portfolio
Develop and manage project plans, timelines, workstreams, deliverables, and reporting mechanisms.
Coordinate activities across multiple stakeholder groups to ensure alignment and timely completion of objectives.
Identify risks, dependencies, and barriers to project success and develop mitigation strategies.
Prepare project materials, presentations, summaries, and recommendations for leadership review.
Track outcomes and evaluate effectiveness of assigned initiatives.
Stakeholder Engagement & Strategic Programs (25%)
Manage operational planning and execution for advisory boards, leadership councils, donor engagement activities, and special stakeholder initiatives.
Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support engagement goals.
Coordinate meeting agendas, materials, communications, follow-up actions, and related project activities.
Support leadership in fostering productive collaborations across organizational and external partners.
Facilitate implementation of strategic initiatives designed to strengthen stakeholder engagement and organizational visibility.
Communications & Publications Project Management (20%)
Partner with Michigan Medicine and FCVC communications teams to support communication plans associated with organizational initiatives and engagement efforts.
Coordinate with/function as a liaison to the MM Department of Communications to manage high-profile communications initiatives, including the annual donor report and other strategic publications.
Coordinate content development processes involving writers, editors, communications professionals, faculty, and leadership stakeholders.
Manage project schedules, review cycles, approvals, and production timelines.
Ensure communication deliverables are completed on schedule and aligned with institutional priorities and brand standards.
Event & Program Management (15%)
Lead project planning and execution for strategic events, educational programs, donor activities, leadership forums, symposia, recognition events, and other organizational initiatives.
Develop event timelines, implementation plans, communication strategies, and operational workflows.
Coordinate logistics, vendors, venues, participant communications, and post-event assessment activities.
Ensure events effectively support organizational objectives and stakeholder engagement goals.
Administrative & Other Duties (5%)
Develop reports, correspondence, presentations, and briefing materials.
Maintain project documentation and records.
Participate in departmental and organizational committees and workgroups as assigned.
Perform other duties as required.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, Communications, Education, Project Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1-2 years' experience managing projects, programs, events, or operational initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong organizational, communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience with project collaboration tools such as MS Office (Teams and Planner), Google Drive and Dropbox, Canva, and OneNote.
Desired Qualifications*
- Experience in academic medicine, healthcare administration, higher education, or a complex matrixed organization.
- Experience supporting advisory boards, faculty engagement activities, educational programs, or executive-level initiatives.
- Experience applying project management methodologies to program or event administration.
- Knowledge of University policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Experience utilizing M-Pathways and other University of Michigan IT systems.

Background Screening
