Job Summary
The Image-Guided Medical Robotics Lab at the University of Michigan is seeking to hire a research lab specialist for an NIH funded project to advance optical coherence tomography (OCT) technology and medical robot systems that integrate OCT.
- Develop, design and conduct research projects that advance the state-of-the-art in OCT and medical robotics
- Full-time position in Ann Arbor, MI
- Annual salary of $49k to $57k depending on experience
- Hybrid options and flexible working hours available
- One-year term with option for reappointment if funding is available
- Work collaboratively in a dynamic team of students and professionals
- Meet regularly with other team members and lab PI
Responsibilities*
- (40%) Prepares reports, writes documentation, and drafts manuscripts, especially as related to OCT system operation, performance, and integration
- (20%) Participates in formulating research methods and suggesting options for improving quality and recommending solutions for OCT data processing and analysis
- (10%) Develop, design and conduct research projects that create new and improve existing OCT systems, especially for use with medical robots
- (10%) Works independently on collection of data and analyzes research results related to OCT and medical robot performance
- (10%) Assemble, test, calibrate, clean or make minor repairs to OCT systems and the systems in which they are integrated
- (10%) Meet weekly with the lab PI in individual and group settings to review research progress
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, Master's preferred
- 1 to 3 years of relevant experience
- Prior experience with OCT system operation, OCT signal processing, and/or image-guided medical robotics
- Excellent oral and written technical communication skills in English
