Job Summary
Primary duties entail assisting Dr. Dale Thomson with research and logistical tasks related to his project, "Preserving the Story of Community Development in Detroit."
Responsibilities*
The job duties may include, but are not limited to, assisting with the following:
- Literature searches and reviews
- Collecting and compiling data related to community development in Northwest Detroit
- Planning and conducting interviews with community members
- Drafting interview summaries
- Web site development/maintenance
- Other tasks related to successful implementation of the project
Required Qualifications*
The research assistant must have the following qualifications:
- Student at the University of Michigan
- Sophomore standing or higher
- Ability to work independently
- Evidence of strong academic performance
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Desired Qualifications*
The ideal candidate will also possess the following qualifications:
- Knowledge of the community development field
- Familiarity with the city of Detroit
Modes of Work
Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.
Work Schedule
10-15 hours per week.
