Job Summary

The Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning seeks a financial specialist intermediate with procurement, accounting, and financial reporting experience to join our finance team. Reporting to the senior financial manager (our organizational chart), you will take on a broad range of financial responsibilities, handling assignments with accuracy, integrity, and efficiency. You will have a proven track record of working collaboratively with a broad and diverse community, including faculty, staff, and students. Because of the fast-paced environment, you must be able to multi-task in an evolving environment.

This job is situated in Ann Arbor and on-campus work is required three days a week, with a few fully remote weeks throughout the academic year as well as a fully remote period from mid-May to mid-August. 

Responsibilities*

  • Serve as the primary procurement agent and resource, providing faculty and staff with support and guidance on day-to-day procurement-related questions
  • Approve Marketsite+ orders, QTOs, SUB, etc.
  • Process student stipend payments and back up other payments
  • Assist with contract/sourcing requests
  • Journal entry processing and account closeout
  • Approve Emburse expense reports
  • Manage course travel reconciliation, payroll reconciliation, and cash/check deposit reconciliation
  • Prepare/review financial transaction reports, variance investigation, and correction

  • Review monthly internal control push notifications report and Emburse compliance report, and follow up on identified issues as needed
  • Participate in the year-end accounting closing processes
  • Other duties as assigned by the senior financial manager

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in a financially related field
  • 3+ years of related financial/accounting experience
  • Proficiency and knowledge of the University procurement processes, policies/guidelines, and MPathway systems
  • Proficient user of Excel and Business Objects

Modes of Work

The work requirements allow both onsite and offsite work and an employee has an expected recurring onsite presence. On occasion, the employee may be required and must be available to work onsite more frequently if necessitated by unit leadership or their designee and/or the job requirements.

Additional Information

The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $65,000. Factors used to determine salary include experience, knowledge and skills for the position. You are encouraged to discuss salary questions to honor transparency throughout the recruiting process.
