Job Summary
The Marketing & Brand Specialist supports the development and execution of UMMA exhibition marketing campaigns and serves as a creative partner in stewarding the museum's brand. Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Public Relations, this role manages marketing projects across print, digital, web, photo/video, and other channels while coordinating with vendors, partners, and collaborators to move projects from concept through completion.
Museum experience is not required; an interest in the arts and a strong creative mindset are valued. This is a hybrid position with regular in-person work in Ann Arbor, MI.
Responsibilities*
Marketing campaign development (35%)
- Support development and execution of integrated marketing campaigns for exhibitions and institutional priorities
- Partner with the Director of Marketing & Public Relations on paid media strategies and advertising resources
- Develop campaign concepts, messaging, and creative approaches that translate curatorial and institutional goals into compelling public-facing experiences
- Assist with marketing project budgets
- Collaborate with curators and museum staff to identify target audiences and develop audience-centered messaging
- Ensure campaigns align with UMMA's brand and strategic priorities
Creative production & brand support (30%)
- Maintain consistency with UMMA's visual identity and brand standards across marketing materials
- Design and produce postcards, brochures, signage, digital graphics, advertisements, presentations, and other promotional materials
- Prepare production-ready files for print and digital distribution
Project & vendor coordination (20%)
- Coordinate marketing production schedules and project timelines
- Work with designers, photographers, printers, and other vendors to manage project logistics and deliverables
- Track projects and workflows in Asana
- Coordinate internal reviews and maintain project documentation
Content development & department support (15%)
- Write and edit marketing copy for promotional materials, advertising, web content, and other communications
- Stay current on marketing and design trends and contribute ideas that strengthen UMMA's audience engagement
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, graphic design, public relations, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in marketing, communications, brand management, or a related creative field
- Experience managing multiple marketing projects simultaneously, coordinating cross-functional partners, and tracking project details from development through completion
- Demonstrated ability to create marketing and promotional materials using Adobe Creative Cloud (including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop), with an understanding of production requirements and the ability to prepare production-ready files for print and digital partners
- Demonstrated ability to write and edit marketing copy for advertising, websites, print materials, and digital communications; adapt messaging for different audiences and channels; and translate complex or specialized information into clear, accessible content
