Job Summary

Evaluate and treat patients with diseases, injuries, disorders and disabilities, to relieve pain, develop or restore function and enhance maximum performance.

This position rotates 1 year on each of the following teams: Adult Medical/surgical, Adult Cardiovascular, and Pediatric Teams. The position will start on the pediatric team. 

In this position you will evaluate and treat patients from newborn to geriatrics including all diagnoses within the inpatient hospital setting.

Responsibilities*

  • Interpret referrals and ensure necessary precautions are identified so that appropriate physicaltherapy evaluation and treatment can be provided.
  • Develop focused individually designed treatmentplans based on the patient’s functional goals.
  • Utilizes independent clinical decision makingto progress patients and modify treatment dependingupon the patient’s needsand medical status.
  • Monitor patients throughout the provision of treatment and respond appropriately to changes inpatient status.
  • Instruct patients and their families in home treatment programs.•Maintain records of patient evaluation, treatment and discharge status.
  • May conduct research under the guidance of a Physical Therapy Director.•May conduct special projects contributing to teaching materials and procedures used in physicaltherapy.
  • Process patient care orders using the electronicordering system may be required in certain areas.

Required Qualifications*

  • Master's or DPT degree in physical therapy or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Satisfactory completion of an internship program 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in patient treatment 
  • Possession of a current State license to practice physical therapy in Michigan. This position can be underfilled with a candidate that does not yet have possession of a current State license to practice physical therapy in Michigan.

Work Schedule

This position will include a permanent weekend day as well as some holiday hours.

Background Screening
