Job Summary
Must be eligible for Work Study Fall 2024. This is a position with an off campus agency. The Grants Assistant will aid the Grants Coordinator and the Development/Marketing and Communications Department in the day-to-day execution of grant initiatives.
Responsibilities*
Research and Analysis:
- Conduct thorough research to understand the funding landscape, potential donors, and trends in nonprofit grant funding.
- Identify funding prospects that align with the organization's mission and programs.
- Start and maintain a research portfolio in the research database (GrantStation)
- Maintain a calendar of submission deadlines
- Assist with data collection required for grant reporting
Writing and Editing:
- Outlining framework for proposal and draft proposal sections.
- Proof and edit copy to improve readability correcting errors in spelling, punctuation, and typos, check and correct grammar, subject-verb agreement, tenses etc.
Administrative Assistance:
- Scanning and filing paperwork,
- Entering information into databases,
- Assisting with projects or events, and
- Other general administrative tasks and errands.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications*
- Proficiency in the use of personal computer workstation with common software applications.
- Ability to organize and multitask functions to ensure compliance with due dates and deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal relationship and communication skills. Ability to work effectively across departments with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, and ages.
- Regularly uses close and distance vision. Works at a desk and computer screen for extended periods of time.
- Conditions may include working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions as needed, working extended or irregular hours, and will travel to/from events as needed.
- Must be physically able to assist with event setup and breakdown, including lifting up to 30 lbs. regularly and 50 lbs. on occasion.
Modes of Work
Onsite
The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence. Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan
