The Statistical Analysis of Biomedical and Educational Research (SABER) unit is the data coordinating center for several multi-center clinical trials and observational studies. We are a research center located within the Biostatistics Department at the School of Public Health (SPH) on Michigan's central campus. We are seeking an experienced PhD-level or master-level staff member with a commitment to contributing to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for all members of our community. Your role will be to support statistical activities for multiple grants. You will report to the Manager of Statistics. Responsibilities*
The Statistician Expert will conduct the following activities, independently, with minimal guidance and oversight by faculty and staff biostatisticians.
- Review statistical consideration sections (including definition of subject population, schedule of activities, and endpoints) of study protocols.
- Prepare derived, de-identified, and/or archival datasets.
- Conduct data analyses in SAS or R, including
- Write analysis programs
- Validate analysis programs
- Prepare reports for
- Submission of abstracts and papers to scientific journals
- DSMB, FDA, or steering committee review
- Work with the SABER team on the conduct and reporting of clinical studies per good clinical practice (GCP). Tasks may include the creation of standard reporting programs for internal and external use.
- Implement methods to ensure the quality of study data, including participation in development of and implementation of standard operating procedures and the creation of SAS macros for regular reporting.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor degree in statistics, biostatistics, public health, epidemiology, computer science, information, or related field with a minimum of 10 years experience using statistical software for data management and statistical analysis.
- Experience with SAS
- Experience with data cleaning and review and implementing database quality assurance standards
- Clinical research experience
- Experience analyzing clinical trials or observational studies
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively manage competing priorities
- An eagerness and aptitude for learning new skills
- Ability to work effectively on teams, and collaborate with SABER statisticians
Desired Qualifications*
- Advanced SAS experience, including data step processing and macro languages
- Experience working with clinical investigators
- Understanding of ICH, GCP and FDA regulations and guidelines regarding the conduct of human subject research
