Purpose:
As the Curriculum Assistant you will be a primary support to the Curriculum Manager for the Ross School of Business, especially with the class scheduling processes. You will respond (both orally and in writing) to inquiries from faculty about courses, grades and exams and from students as part of the Ross Registrar's Office team support. You will compile and organize complex data using charts and tables. You will report directly to the Curriculum Manager.

Responsibilities*

Calendar Administration (25%)

  • Schedule rooms for final exams and midterms for all Ross classes
  • Announce exam schedule to faculty and correspond with them individually if changes need to be made
  • Prepare academic calendar documents and post them on Ross's intranet, iMpact, including updates when necessary
  • Help students with questions about exams, including questions about SSD or makeup exams

Class Evaluation Management (25%)

  • Coordinate all aspects of course evaluations for Ross-owned classes
  • Notify faculty of deadlines, input dates into the Blue evaluation system, and monitor progress
  • Manage the distribution of evaluation reports to department chairs and associate deans
  • Update faculty resources webpage with current term information

Enrollment Management, Transcript Processing, and Course Scheduling (15%)

  • Help create courses, monitoring enrollment and waitlists, and scheduling classrooms
  • Be the second point of contact for the Curriculum Manager regarding scheduling questions
  • Use Business Objects queries to run weekly reports of class schedules for distribution to staff and verify accuracy of class schedule data
  • Prepare, process and track course approval forms for course changes and creation of new courses. Coordinate with faculty, department chairs and (Central) Registrar's Office regarding course changes
  • Track experimental status of new courses
  • Maintain new course titles and verify core/elective designations within iMpact (Ross intranet)

Study Abroad Administration (25%)

  • Manage all aspects of Ross's study abroad classes, called BUSABRD
  • Create placeholder sections, process transcripts after abroad program is complete, and manage updates to the students UM record
  • Coordinate grade roster generation and help grade questions or issues

Team Support (10%)

  • Be the primary backup to the Registration Specialist for phone coverage and walk-ins, assist with website maintenance, data requests and special projects
  • Provide backup support for entering class permissions; processing add, drop and withdrawal requests; process credit limit increases

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Excel skills, including experience with filters, pivot tables and advanced formulas.
  • 1+ years of experience working in an academic environment - or comparable experience.
  • 1+ years of experience or familiarity with registration databases (UM uses M-Pathways)
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft products and be prepared to work with a cloud-based phone system (Zoom phone) and with video calls.
  • Must be supportive of, and participate in, change initiatives to improve service, efficiencies and productivity.

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Additional Information

The posting range for this position is $45,100 - $53,000. This posting range reflects multiple factors involved in determining compensation, such as skills, experience, training, certifications, and other organizational needs. At Ross, it is not common for new hires to be offered a salary at the upper end of the range. Compensation decisions are based on the details of each situation.
