Responsibilities*
Responsibilities include supporting research initiatives focused on health equity, diabetes self-management, and community-based intervention research. The position will include significant contributions to federally funded projects, including NIH and PCORI grants, and will require expertise in research design, community engagement, and data management. The Research Area Specialist will oversee key aspects of project implementation, data collection, and analysis to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality research outputs such as 1) managing federally funded research projects, including NIH and PCORI grants, focusing on diabetes self-management and health equity interventions for Black men; 2) Leading project coordination, engaging community stakeholders, and organizing activities such as focus groups and Community Engagement Studios; 3) Designing research protocols, managing data collection and analysis, and ensuring compliance with ethical standards 4) Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, supervising research assistants, and preparing reports, manuscripts, and presentations for academic and community audiences and 5) the specialist will maintain relationships with funders and community partners, ensuring project deliverables are met on time.
Required Qualifications*
- Master's or Ph.D. in public health, social work, or a related field.
- At least 1-2 years of experience working as a project manager for a federally funded NIH or PCORI grant.
- Ability to collect, manage, and analyze intervention, evaluation, and big data sets for a fast-paced research center.
- Ability to oversee and serve as the liaison for community based project sites.
- Ability to manage multiple data systems, design thinking, tracking, and project management platforms simultaneously.
- Proficiency with data management and leading data teams across various in-person and virtual-platforms.
- Proficiency with R statistical software, Google suite applications, and U-M data management systems (redcap).
