Job Summary
This job provides high-touch, customer-oriented instructional support at the University of Michigan - College of Pharmacy. Successful applicants should have effective written and verbal communication knowledge to quickly offer appropriate assistance collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students in the instructional technology environment. Assists in the development of instructional materials that are functional, intuitive, informative, and consistent with sound instructional design principles. Provides technical support (hardware and software) for course labs, distance learning and classroom equipment, secure assessment technology (Examsoft & Respondus), and audio-visual equipment. Collaborate with the Instructional Learning Lead and IT department to bring together several related client needs to develop appropriate strategies for implementing information technology across a broad range of academic programs and initiatives. As this environment is dynamic, the applicant should be capable of staying focused and on-task while keeping productivity interruptions to a minimum.
Responsibilities*
35% - Instructional Technology Support
- Work with the Instructional Learning Lead to help design, develop, and support online and interactive instructional tools, applications, and systems. Develop, conduct, and analyze surveys related to academic technology needs (current and future). Work with members of the IT department to support the educational mission of the College of Pharmacy. Assist in developing documentation pertaining to policies, procedures, and best practice guidelines for using academic technologies.
25% - Support/training
- Provide end-user technical support for academic technology-related issues for the College of Pharmacy.
- Help provide training and support to students with regard to classroom and learning technologies. Develop How-to's and conduct technology training for faculty, staff, and students.
25% - Onsite Instructional Equipment and Audio/Video Support
- Set up and maintain instructional computers and specific audio/visual equipment for classroom and project use. Edit and publish videos, lecture recordings, and other multimedia items.
15% - Technology Evaluation
- Work with the Instructional Learning Lead and IT department to strategically evaluate what systems, services, and technologies should be implemented. Assist in the process of eliciting and documenting detailed requirements for proposed instructional projects, including performing feasibility, risk, and cost-benefit analysis.
Required Qualifications*
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in computer science, audio-visual education, distance learning, instructional technology, or related field. Typically, they will have an area of specialization such as multimedia support, instructional design, media classroom support, etc. Demonstrate computer/instructional technology knowledge, including learning management systems and alternative testing options.
Experience with Microsoft Office suite, Qualtrics, Zoom, Audience Response Systems, Dropbox Box, Google apps, UM *Course Tools, Canvas, ExamSoft, and other U-M instructional programs. Experience interacting with faculty and developing, assessing, and implementing academic technology solutions.
Requires 1-2 years of experience in learning and production management technology. Proficient with word processing, spreadsheets, Google Apps, and other collaboration platforms. Demonstrated ability to perform initial troubleshooting for academic technology on Apple and Windows and Windows operating systems.
