Job Summary
The Business Coordinator supports the organization's business management functions through administration and coordination of activities related to human resources, travel, and events. This is a front of house position requiring the ability to multi-task and take a lead on general office duties.
Responsibilities*
- Support human resource (HR) functions through the employment lifecycle. Assist in the hiring process through management of the recruitment schedule, posting approved positions, scheduling interviews, and completing system hiring requirements. Coordinate orientation schedules and support initial onboarding through meeting scheduling and on-site setup for new staff. Coordinate employee offboarding activities including equipment collection, system termination requirements, and scheduling of exit interviews.
- Monitor approved travel and hosting schedule, and arrange travel and accommodation for staff. Research and book travel in alignment with U-M systems (i.e. travel & expense tool; purchasing card) and policy. Serve as a resource and point of contact for travel-related issues and assist staff with travel-related concerns. Process travel expenses and reimbursements for staff.
- Maintain records of personnel-related data (NDAs, payroll approvals, personal information) and ensure all employment requirements are met. Respond to internal and external HR related inquiries or requests and provide assistance or escalate as necessary. Support facilitation of the performance management cycle and learning and development process.
- Provide administrative support and event coordination for meetings and staff events. Maintain agendas and execute scheduling for staff meetings, staff events, and strategy meetings. Execute research and provide recommendations that meet requirements of various staff events. Coordinate location bookings, food and beverage purchases, and event set-up/tear down.
- Provide other administrative support, including: managing reception, events/conference support and coordination, act as backup for the Business Specialist for mail receipt and distribution, assist with policy maintenance, order office supplies, maintain IT inventory, support facilities functions, and execute other special projects as needed.
Required Qualifications*
- Associate's Degree
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, emphasis on Excel and Word
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, to effectively resolve problems, and to maintain a professional demeanor at all times
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Proven ability to operate effectively in a busy office environment
- Experience handling confidential information
- Excellent customer service
- Experience in an administrative assistant or HR coordination position

Work Locations
Michigan Language Assessment is seeking candidates located in or around Ann Arbor and supports a hybrid work schedule with scheduled in person activities.
