ABOUT THE SCHOOL OF MUSIC, THEATRE & DANCE. As a comprehensive performing arts school set in one of the world's finest public institutions of higher education, the School of Music, Theatre & Dance (SMTD) is deeply engaged in the creation, practice, scholarship, and pedagogy of music, theatre, and dance. Responsibilities*
Teach 13 hours applied private instruction weekly at the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels in French horn; teach nine two-hour studio classes; other departmental needs as required. The appointee will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence and create an innovative curriculum for a diverse body of students to explore a broad range of career paths.
Required Qualifications*
Graduate degree in in French horn performance, or equivalent professional experience; commitment to nurturing a broad range of students of varied identities and experiences and encouraging them to explore fully their educational possibilities; demonstrated expertise and experience in teaching by having presented master classes, maintained private studios, and/or served as a faculty member at institution(s) of higher learning.
Desired Qualifications*
A sustained and distinguished professional record as a performer of solo French horn music, chamber music and orchestral literature; DMA degree, or equivalent experience.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
