Job Summary
The Facilities Coordinator is responsible for upholding the overall Internal Operations vision while ensuring the facilities meet high standards for efficient operation, safety, maintenance, cleanliness, security, customer service and event execution. This position provides supervision of facilities, assists with the management of rentals and events, and supervision of student staff at Yost Ice Arena and the Wilpon Baseball/Softball Complex. Varied schedule required - Evenings, weekends, and holidays are expected based on event schedule.
Responsibilities*
- Perform quality control cleaning and maintenance checks at all facilities and machines.
- Execute proper opening/closing procedures.
- Event set-up and tear-down activities.
- Assist the Yost/Wilpon Management team with development, coordination, and oversight of all programs and rental groups.
- Provide support for University of Michigan practices, events and rentals associated with game day procedures and event staff supervision.
- Provide customer service during shift; be it profit center-related, skate sharpening, operating public skates, or other activities directed to the public.
- Ensure proper condition of equipment and tools used during daily operation and maintenance checks.
- Operate Zamboni to prepare ice between user groups.
- Assist grounds crew in management of all artificial turf fields, natural grass practice and competition areas, and dirt softball infield.
- Assist with groundskeeping around buildings and playing fields.
- Assist in lawn, tree, shrub, and flower maintenance around facilities.
- Safe operation of a push mower, string trimmer, utility cart, and road vehicles.
- Complete all assigned/related Grounds maintenance duties.
- Responsible for the organization of mechanical spaces, storage rooms, loading docks, maintenance shops, and any other operational spaces.
- Other duties as assigned by Facility Manager and Facility Staff.
Required Qualifications*
- Prior experience in Facility operations, grounds, or related experience.
- Must be able to establish and maintain positive working relationships with all team members and customers.
- Must be able to perform a wide range of physical activities including, pushing, pulling, lifting, kneeling, reaching, etc.
- Must have the ability to meet the requirements of operating a UM Vehicle.
- Must be able to work in inclement weather.
- Ability to work nights and weekends consistently.
Desired Qualifications*
- Experience working within a Division I University environment.
- Understanding of NCAA and Big Ten Compliance rules.
- Understanding of OSEH Safety Programs.
