Job Summary

The Milk Room Manager is responsible for managing Milk Room operations and supervising team members who work in the Milk Room.

Responsibilities*

Milk Room Operations

  • Oversee the receiving, handling, storage, preparation, and delivery of products prepared by the Milk Room.
  • Manage procurement and inventory for formula, donor human milk, human milk-based fortifiers, and other supplies; ensure adequate par stock levels are maintained.
  • Develop and monitor operational standards to ensure high-quality service delivery, promote efficiency, and maintain compliance with industry regulations and organizational policies.
  • Address questions and concerns of patients, families, and health care team members regarding quality and scope of service provided by the Milk Room.
  • Monitor data and report key performance indicators (KPIs)

Human Resources Management

  • Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, and train Milk Room staff.
  • Assign tasks and maintain written job routines for all Milk Room positions; directly supervise staff performance and duties.
  • Schedule staff according to Unit (Milk Room) needs and budgeted hours.
  • Define and assess competency to perform assigned job duties.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and manage disciplinary actions, as necessary.

Compliance and Quality Assurance

  • Safeguard protected health information.
  • Contribute to the process of planning the Milk Room budget. 
  • Assist in developing, revising, and maintaining Milk Room policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives in Milk Room. 
  • Implement service recovery measures when necessary.
     

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, food service management, or related fields granted by an accredited college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • ServSafe Certification within 90 days of hire.

     

Desired Qualifications*

  • Master's degree in nutrition, dietetics, business administration, health care administration, or related fields granted by an accredited college or university.
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with active registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
  • Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC), Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), or Internationally Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
  • Working knowledge and understanding of departmental and institutional 
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Policies and procedures. 
     

Work Schedule

This is a 40hr position.

Modes of Work
