Job Summary
The Department of Environmental Health Sciences at the University of Michigan's School of Public Health is seeking a Research Technician Senior for the Manz Lab. This position, focused on the environmental transformation of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), is a one-year term appointment with potential renewal based on funding.
Responsibilities*
The technician will:
-Specialize in laboratory research methods and operate advanced equipment, such as liquid chromatography high-resolution mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS) and Combustion Ion Chromatography (CIC), as well as perform solid phase extraction and other relevant techniques.
-Evaluate PFAS transformation experiment results, troubleshooting and managing instrument repairs, and training lab members in research techniques.
-Conduct electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy (EPR) experiments, which requires work in a user facility.
This position offers comprehensive training in experimental procedures, instrument operation, data analysis, and method optimization.
Required Qualifications*
A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Chemistry or Environmental Health Science, with 1-2 years of relevant laboratory experience.
