Job Summary

The research team for the Inclusive History Project "A History of Community Partnerships at UM-Flint" is seeking high school students to serve as assistants to the project researchers to verify the accuracy of transcribed interviews. These positions are available on a temporary basis. Weekly work schedules will vary depending on the amount of interviews to verify. The assistants will report directly to the director of K-12 Partnerships.

This position is funded through the Inclusive History Project grant.  Employment is contingent upon the availability of grant funds. The position may be limited in duration and/or scope depending on how funds are allocated. Continuation beyond the funding period is not guaranteed.

Applicants will need to have a work permit issued from their high school and bring it to their I9 appointment with HR, this will be scheduled after offer(s) have been submitted by the hiring department.

  • Review transcripts for accuracy

Required Qualifications*

  • Current Genesee County high school student of at least junior standing
  • Minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.8
  • Member in good standing of National Honor Society
  • Demonstrable attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Must have access to a personal computer or laptop with a reliable internet connection

  • Access to and familiarity with various technological platforms 

Modes of Work

Mobile/Remote
The work requirements allow for the majority or all of the work to be completed offsite.  On occasion, the employee may be required and must be available to work onsite if necessitated by unit leadership or their designee and/or the job requirements, but is not generally scheduled on a recurring basis

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Background Screening
