Responsibilities*
The UM School of Nursing (UMSN) is seeking an Academic, Clinical, and NCLEX Coach for students enrolled in the Undergraduate Program.
This is an optional and supplemental resource coordinated by the School of Nursing to support BSN students who may benefit from 1:1 coaching to deepen and enrich academic, clinical, and NCLEX knowledge and skills. The coach is expected to demonstrate advanced knowledge of the academic, clinical and NCLEX skills needed to advance in our BSN program as well as inclusive pedagogical practices that promote well-rounded and deep learning, critical thinking, and troubleshooting in each BSN content area.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Provide highly individualized coaching in academic, clinical, and NCLEX skills for up to 30 hours per week.
- Provide advice and feedback to strengthen student performance on assignments, projects, exams and other student work.
- Provide coaching in key academic skills such as studying, notetaking, test taking, writing, critical thinking and problem solving.
- Provide coaching in key clinical skills as needed as well as skills that will improve students performance on the NCLEX.
- Provide mentoring and encouragement to students to postiviely impact self-confidence and persistence.
- Track the particpation of students using coaching resources.
Required Qualifications*
- Candidates must be able to demonstrate experience coaching/teaching BSN students in academic, clinical and NCLEX skills as well as experience creating inclusive climates for learning.
- Ideal candidates are RN's who have the tenacity and drive to develop and nurture students' abilities.
- Highly skilled, motivated, versatile, dependable, and dynamic individuals with strong communication skills.
- Candidates must have a passion for education and mentoring students.
Modes of Work
