As a Medical Assistant for Neurology, you will serve as a positive role model on the clinical team. Your duties will require you to act as a change agent who promotes process improvement and sharing of best practices with the team. Coach and support other team members to promote improvement and positive performance, embodying service excellence.
Responsibilities*
Provide exceptional customer service to patients and families by performing clinical processes that result in the management of efficient patient flow. Assist in patient care activities and performance improvement projects in order to improve the safety, efficiency and quality in the Neurology Clinic.
- Intake: Efficiently and effectively prepares and organizes clinic exam and procedure rooms with appropriate equipment and supplies. Document patient vitals, health status, medications list and allergies in the electronic medical record.
- Clinical Support Processes: Provides accurate and efficient clinical support processes that include prescription refills, test results reporting, pharmacy insurance authorization, and/or other requests. Also perform other assignments such as opening process, supply inventory and patient calls. Able to collaborate with nursing and physician staff to ensure optimal patient care. Problem solve patient and family care issues. Responding to patient inquiries regarding care and clinic policies and procedures. Facilitating completion of patient forms, correspondence and requests. When necessary, provides secondary support to clinical staff, including generation and completion of all necessary patient visit paperwork
- Education and Training: Maintains current competencies and mandatory training. Attends mandatory clinic and hospital training programs. Actively participates in clinic and/or staff meetings.
- Facilitation: Ability to coordinate use of exam/procedure room space. Able to support multiple providers. Provides assistance with medication preparation, complex procedures and/or specimen collections. Takes initiative in identifying, acting, and following through on problems and tasks.
- Leadership: Serves as a positive role model and is an integral member of the clinical team. Communication is effective and positive with the entire health care team. Demonstrates proactive problem solving skills and takes the initiative to identify, act, and follow through on problems. Is able to consider the impacts of decisions/changes beyond the immediate work group.

- May assist with complex procedures, requiring knowledge of complex and varied equipment (bladderscan/ultrasound).
Required Qualifications*
- Graduation from a Medical Assistant program or an equivalent combination of education and 0-1 years of experience for Medical Assistant level, Medical Assistant Associate level requires 1-3 years of experience.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to take direction and receive feedback.
- Effective time management skills.
- Must have documented history of excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Moderate standing/walking, as well as lifting, positioning, pushing and/or transferring patients.
- Demonstrated active listening, written, verbal and information technology skills.
Work Schedule
Work hours are flexible ranging from 7:30 a.m. ? 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, up to 12 hrs per week.
