Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to support the Medical and Extended Reality (MIXR) NSF IUCRC grant. This role will be responsible for contributing to the design and implementation of research projects focused on XR simulation, education, and training. The position also involves recruiting and engaging industry partners as paying members of the MIXR center, assisting in the development of manuscripts, and participating in meetings with faculty, residents, students, and external stakeholders. Occasional travel may be required.

Responsibilities*

  • Support the design and execution of XR-based research projects and contribute to technical development for ongoing and future initiatives.
  • Solicit and recruit industry partners for MIXR center membership and maintain stakeholder relationships.
  • Assist in preparing manuscripts and academic outputs in collaboration with the research team.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings with internal and external MIXR collaborators, including occasional travel.

Required Qualifications*

  • Coursework or experience in extended reality, learning design, digital media production, medical technologies, or related fields
  • Willingness to take on unfamiliar, complex tasks that require specific processes
  • Familiarity with drafting documentation and iterative development
  • Excellent work ethic
  • Superb attention to detail and outstanding organizational skills
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to effectively communicate with staff and faculty of all levels

Modes of Work

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
